Salman Abedi identified as Manchester bomber

The suspect of committing the bombing in a concert in Manchester was identified today as Salman Abedi, a 22-year-old British man, reported American officers.

Two of the officers, who have been in contact with British authorities, said that it is believed that the perpetrator traveled to Manchester from London by train.

At least 22 persons died and 59 were injured on Monday when the attacker detonated an explosive artifact at the end of American singer Ariana Grande's concert in Manchester, in what the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Theresa May, condemned as a “sickening” act targeted to children and young people.

Chief Officer Ian Hopkins confirmed in a press conference that security forces are determining if he acted alone or had support.

Hopkins indicated that Abedi's remains have not been officially recognized yet by a medical examiner, so he refused to give more details at this stage of the investigation.

According to the BBC, Abedi was born in Manchester, from a family of Libyan origin and had at least two siblings, also British.

The family lived in diverse addresses in the Fallowfield suburb, south Manchester, where the police carried out a search, informed the news network.

Until now there are 3 mortal victims identified: an 8-year-old girl, Saffie Rose Roussos, a young female student of 18, Georgina Callander, and a 26-year-old young man, John Atkinson.
