Officials
from the Canadian government will visit Mexico on July 25 to discuss bilateral issues , including negotiations to modernize the North American Free Trade Agreement ( NAFTA ).
In a statement, the Canadian embassy in Mexico said that the officials attending the meeting are the Foreign Affairs Secretary, Chrystia Freeland ; Bill Morneau , the Finance Secretary; Jim Carr from the Secretary of Diversification of International Trade ; Brian Clow, Canada-US Relations Office coordinator; and John Hannaford , Adviser for International and Defense Affairs Adviser.
They will meet with President Enrique Peña Nieto , as well as with the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Luis Videgaray Caso , and the Economy Secretary, Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal.
They will also meet with the President-elect, Andrés Manuel López Obrador , and his team , said the diplomatic delegation in a statement.
The Foreign Affairs Secretary, Chrystia Freeland , said that a s friends and partners , Canada and Mexico will continue to work together to bring prosperity and security to North America.
"The ties between Canada and Mexico have never been stronger , and we are looking forward to meeting with President Peña Nieto next week and having our first meeting with President-elect López Obrador ," she said.
Bill Morneau
, the Finance Secretary, said that Mexico shares their commitment to strengthen both economies and to create good jobs and opportunities for both countries.
"Working together, we will overcome immediate challenges , while focusing on our goals to achieve long-term growth that benefits everyone," he said.
Meanwhile, Jim Carr, Secretary of Diversification of International Trade, expressed his desire to strengthen bilateral and multilateral relations to benefit both nations.
