Officials from Mexico's Criminal Investigation Agency destroyed two poppy plant farms in the El Capulín community in the State of Mexico.
The 62,500 and 27,000 square-foot farms were discovered in a forestry area of the state called the Cerro del Aire.
One of the farms had 139,284 poppy plants and the other had 112,860. Both have since been destroyed.
Mexico's federal prosecutors have launched an investigation into those responsible for the farms.
