Agents from the Office of the Attorney General (PGR) arrested a man, on the lam for a little over two years, who is a member of a human trafficking network with operations in Tlaxcala, Puebla, Mexico City, Houston and New York.
The PGR said that the suspect was arrested in Tlaxcala by the probable commission of human trafficking, organized crime and possession of military-grade weapons.
"The investigation indicates that the detainee is a participant in a network of human traffickers for the purposes of sexual exploitation with activities also in Puebla and Tlaxcala, in addition to criminal networks in the cities of Houston and New York, United States," reported the PGR.
The suspect was detained after one of his victims denounced him. He reportedly forced her through love, deception, and violence into prostitution since June 2012, in the area known as "La Merced," in Mexico City.
The detainee was sent to the Federal Prison Number 4, in the state of Nayarit.
