Watch Broken Wings, the ballet based on the life and work of Frida Kahlo

In the past weeks, the English National Ballet has been streaming a series of ballets to entertain people while they stay at home amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

On April 22, the National Ballet announced Broken Wings , the ballet based on the life and work of Frida Kahlo , will be available on Facebook and Youtube for 48 hours.

Broken Wings is “based on Kahlo ’s life and art” (…) and has been described as“a marvelous image of creativity and power.”

stars as Frida Kahlo and Irek Mukhamedov stars as her husband Diego Rivera .

Broken Wings

was choreographed by Annabelle López Ochoa . The music is by Peter Salem and performed by the English National Ballet Philharmonic.

It was recorded in April 2016 at Sadler’s Wells Theatre, London .
