Mexico’s Office of the Federal Prosecutor for the Consumer (PROFECO)
issued six rapid alerts on several Volkswagen and Toyota models due to manufacturing defects.
In the case of Volkswagen, 350 cars from the 2018 Q5 model were subject to revision due to an apparent flaw in their brake system.
2018 Audi models A4, A5, and A6
were also revised, with 195 units that are likely to present a flawed pump in their cooling system, which could ultimately cause a short-circuit.
Volkswagen
will also recall its Golf and GTI models from the year 2018 since it is thought that 91 units may also present flaws in their brake system. 4,250 units from the 2017 Vento will also be subject to revision due to a likely bad soldering on their towing eyebold. Should the flawed vehicles be towed, these eyebolds are likely to break.
As for Toyota, the first alert was for the 2018 Camry model since 13 units are most likely affected as well.
Toyota
called for a revision of these vehicles, since their engines could be equipped with pistons that have a larger diameter which, under certain conditions, could cause vehicles to speed up unexpectedly.
The car company will also revise 39 2017 Sienna models and 11 Highlander models from 2018 , which are equipped with a vacuum pump that is likely to present manufacturing defects, which could cause the warning sign to go on and spontaneously interrupt brake support.
