The 90th edition of the Academy Awards was imbued with a Mexican atmosphere, not only because of the presence of celebrities such as Eugenio Derbez, Eiza González, and Salma Hayek.
A few hours before the winning film – and director – of the night were known, the sparkling stage of the ceremony (decorated with Swarovski crystals) began to shine in colorful lights.
Dancers dressed in traditional Mariachi costumes and China Poblana dresses brought life to the stage – decorated now with skulls evocative of the Mexican tradition of the Day of the Dead – at the same time the Dolby Theater filled with the voices of Gael García Bernal, Miguel, and Natalia Lafourcade , who sang "Coco's" main theme “Remember Me.”

Despite the mixed opinions the performance arose, it's unquestionable Dinsey-Pixar production “ Coco ” brought the whole world closer to our tradition of the Day of the Dead.
“We knew it was impossible for people not to be moved by the story of 'Coco', so yeah, we've made a lot of people cry,” said between laughs the producer, Darla K. Anderson.
“Coco” went on to win two Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song .
