Mexico and Canada should be ready to continue with the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) without the involvement of the United States, said this Thursday the Mexican Minister of Economy, Ildefonso Guajardo.
During the World Economic Forum on Latin America in Sao Paulo, Guajardo claimed Mexico had to be “ready to live with a NAFTA without the U.S.”
Regarding whether NAFTA is at risk of ending, Mexico's Minister of Economy said: "No. NAFTA will continue between Canada and Mexico because, at the end of the day, what is important is sending the message that you believe in free trade. The U.S. is the one that will decide to be in or out.”
