The Mexican Space Agency (AEM) participated in the High Level Forum of the "Organization for Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation" (APSCO) held in Beijing, China , in the framework of the organization's tenth anniversary and its ninth International Symposium.
"Thanks to the talent shown by our youth, APSCO appreciates Mexico’s perspectives in space matters. Thus, our country has now been invited to join these forums to take advantage of space and joint scientific development, creating new possibilities to collaborate in different areas of the aerospace sector," said the general director of the AEM, Javier Mendieta Jiménez .
He explained in a statement that the development of space capabilities for emerging countries through cooperation was approached from different perspectives with the presentation of high-profile guests.
At the meeting, he said in a statement, a ceremony was held to sign various instruments in which delegates from member states participated.
"We will promote collaboration, knowledge transfer, technology, and generation of new knowledge with APSCO, in order to start participating in Asia-Pacific space projects with emerging nations, to promote more science, technology, engineering and mathematics in benefit of our Mexican youth," he said.
The meeting was attended by representatives from 24 countries , including Germany, Algeria, Bangladesh, China, Colombia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, France, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Laos, Mexico, Mongolia, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Qatar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey , and space sector organizations, such as the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs .
