Mexico moves to the U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019 finals

The Mexican soccer team made it to the finals of the U-17 World Cup by defeating their rivals from the Netherlands. The Mexican team began the tournament with poor results, however, in the second stage they showed their best soccer skills. They left behind teams such as Japan and South Korea .

Holland was the perfect test to show they are real candidates to win the World Cup and to remain as one of the best U-17 teams .

, Mexico’s U-17 team leader , had said the team was a bit anxious for the relevance of today’s match. Regarding the state of the players, he said “The group is doing well, they are still in the recovering stage, mainly physical after all the weariness we’ve experienced from matches, travels, weather, but I see them fine, aware of where we are. I see them focused, happy, a bit anxious, but we must enjoy every moment.”

As to the strategy against Holland, he said the team had to “go out with the same focus they have shown in every match, the one they’ve used during all the World Cup ; they need to trust themselves because we’ve come this far by doing so and believing in our players (…) We must believe in our strengths.”

After eliminating the Netherlands with penalties (4-3) in a very challenging match, the Mexican soccer team will look to conquer a third title as World champions .

The hero for the Mexican team was goalkeeper Eduardo García from Chivas , who stopped three penalties from the Dutch and gave life to the team after Efraín Álvarez and Joel Gómez failed on their attempts and kept fans on the verge of their seats.

The Dutch team dominated a great part of the match against Marco Antonio Ruíz’s players . The Europeans had several chances to score but aim was not on their side and the Aztec defense kept the match tied.

This will be the fourth final for the U-17 national soccer team in the category's World Cup. They won the finals of 2005 in Peru and 2011 in Mexico and lost the one of 2013 in the United Arab Emirates against Nigeria.
