In the framework of the National Day of Japan , Yasushi Takase ambassador of Japan to Mexico assured that "the relationship between Mexico and Japan is very close and the links between the people of these two countries are the basis of its relationship," reiterating its close and friendly bilateral relationship with our country.
Yasushi Takase recalled that last September a brigade of Japanese rescue workers were in Mexico to help in the emergency triggered by the earthquakes that struck the country, an 8.2-magnitude quake on Thursday, September 7 followed by a 7.1-magnitude quake on Tuesday, September 19 .
"On the occasion of the earthquakes that occurred in Mexico last September, I felt a greater bond between the Mexicans and the Japanese. Faced with that sad event, Japan sent a delegation of rescuers. I want to express to the Mexican people my gratitude for the warm applause and cheers for the Japanese team," he said, adding that both countries share a spirit of mutual help that reflects in friendship in adversity.
Regarding the economic landscape, Takase mentioned that in Mexico there are more than a thousand Japanese companies, most of them in the Bajío, a situation that boost the development of an inter-ministerial consultative body.
Takase recalled as well that at the recent APEC meeting , Mexico's President Enrique Peña Nieto and Japan's Prime Minister agreed to work together to lead the advancement of the Trans-Pacific Agreement ( TPP ) after addressing that in 2018 Mexico and Japan will celebrate 130 years of having established diplomatic relations.
