In order to strengthen ties of cooperation and friendship, the Secretary of Health, José Narro Robles , and the Ambassador of Denmark in Mexico , Henrik Bramsen Hahn , signed the Extension of the Memorandum of Understanding , which allows five years of collaboration between both countries on issues aimed at improving the quality of medical care.
In a meeting at the Specific Project of Cooperation in Primary Care Mexico-Denmark , carried out in the Ministry of Health , Narro Robles affirmed that a first-class medical attention system could solve 80% of health problems in the country.
He also highlighted the strategic scope of prevention at the national and international level. "We need better ways to treat and diagnose patients, but the key word is prevention."
The signed agreement includes research projects in mental health such as suicide prevention, the development of a preventive diabetes program, and the strengthening of primary care in cooperation with the National Institute of Psychiatry , Juan Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz , and the University of Southern Denmark.
According to a statement, Narro Robles acknowledged that this cooperation program allowed for a positive impact in the places where it is to be implemented.
He also asked the Danish Ambassador to extend his gratitude to his government and to Danish society, for strengthening ties of cooperation and friendship with Mexico on issues of mutual interest.
In the framework of the celebration of 190 years of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Denmark, Ambassador Henrik Bramsen Hahn announced that cooperation with Mexico has focused on training for the prevention of chronic diseases and research projects of diseases that have a greater impact on the population.
Later, they gave details on the progress of the work carried out in the last two years, including the development of the "Model of remote medical attention through the use of a Contact Center", which has proven to be applicable in Mexico, as well as the exchange of medical experience, clinical practice guidelines, and telemedicine, among others.
