Mexican politician owes over $900 million in taxes

Mexican politician Diego Fernández de Cevallos owes the government MXN $900 million in property tax because he hasn't paid this taxation since 1993 . He owes this amount to the Colón municipality , located in the state of Querétaro , where Fernández de Cevallos owns a ranch .

This was revealed by mayor Alejandro Ochoa Valencia , who said Fernández de Cevallos owes MXN $320 million in property taxes , plus fines and premiums.

In total, Fernández de Cevallos owes MXN $946,890,993.19 after failing to pay property tax for 26 years.

The mayor said that he is looking to reach an agreement with the politician.

The PAN member then said that he is in talks with local authorities but refused to provide further details.

Nevertheless, a few days ago, the Colón mayor said tha t Fernández de Cevallos' debt could be canceled.
