Mexican philanthropist crowned Miss World 2018

Mexican model Vanessa Ponce de León

, who is 26 years old, was crowned as Miss World during the 68th edition in Sanya, China .

said she “will use my crown to keep on doing what I've been doing for the past three years, that is, keep on being an example, because we can all be an example. The world needs change and helping is not that difficult,” after she was crowned.

, who has a degree in International Business and has a course on Human Rights , is the director of a rehab center for women called “Migrants on the way” and she's also a speaker at the National Youth Institute.

supports many causes and she promoted a project called “ Na Vili ” in China, a project that looks to help the children of the Indigenous laborers who leave Guerrero for Guanajuato .

This foundation helps the parents to have all their children' paperwork so the children can access public services like education and health .

The judges considered that her beauty , intelligence , and her will to help others were the reasons why she should wear the crown .
