In the framework of the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) congress, after receiving the ISPA Distinguished Artist Award, Mexican ballerina Elisa Carrillo claimed that she always represents Mexico with fondness and pride.
The event took place at a performing arts center in the Zapopan municipality, where the artist stated that she was deeply excited to “receive this recognition, which I accept with great pride. Each award I receive holds a special place in my life and in my heart.”
She said that Guadalajara had been a very important place throughout her life. “My father is from Nayarit, and since I was very little, we used to take road trips to Guadalajara, eat seafood, and take a walk at its historic center.”
“I am very glad to be here in Guadalajara. I admire everything that the state of Jalisco is doing to promote art and culture. It’s something everyone should know about,” she stated.
“Each time I have the privilege of representing my country and my fellow Mexicans, I do so with fondness. To me, it is a great honor and responsibility and it motivates me to keep fighting and face any difficulty. Though it may not seem like it, I often have to face some problems of my own and there are moments when my fears and insecurities start kicking in, just like it happens to everyone else,” she said.
“This sort of thing motivates me to keep working hard and stay strong, never losing my way. It is very important to chase your dreams and be happy because, in the end, this is what life is all about,” she concluded.
