Elements of the Mexican Army and Navy (SEMAR) , as well as State Police (PE) secured 5.3 thousand gallons of presumably stolen fuel in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region .
Oaxaca’s Ministry of Public Security (SSPO)
informed that 832 gallons of illegally-sourced hydrocarbon had been found next to an abandoned tank truck in the La Hacienda neighborhood , located near the state-owned company PEMEX ’s Ing. Antonio Dovalí Jaime refinery .
Four metal containers with a capacity of 264 gallons each
were found on site. Two of them were full of fuel, another was half full, and the last one was empty. 14 drums with a 13 gallon capacity were also found . Authorities also secured a tank truck with the logo of FAMSA and license plate number KZ-79968 , from the State of Mexico .
Also on Saturday , a total of 10 motor vehicles were seized on a dirt road leading to the Paso Guayabo village in the Barrio de la Soledad municipality , carrying around 4,360 gallons of hydrocarbon . One of the vehicles had recently been reported as stolen. The seized fuel was transferred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office .
According to José Raymundo Tuñón Jáuregui, head of SSPO , the confiscation of stolen fuel is a common occurrence in the Isthmus region since it is an important passage point from Salina Cruz to Coatzacoalcos, in the state of Veracruz .
