The Attorney General’s Office of the Mexican State of Michoacán (FGE) confirmed that the mayor of Nahuatzen, David Eduardo Otlica Avilés , was found dead this morning.
Family members of the victim reported that a group of suspects had kidnapped Otlica Avilés early this morning.
The state government body stated that the mayor had been deprived of his liberty during the first few hours of this Tuesday in the San Isidro community, Nahuatzen municipality .
A few minutes ago, the FGE notified that the body had been found in a place called Cortijo Viejo, in the Coeneo municipality.
“The mayor was deprived of his liberty during the first few hours of today in the San Isidro community. A few minutes ago it was reported that he had been found dead in a place known as Cortijo Viejo, Coeneo municipality,”
tweeted the Attorney’s Office two hours ago.
Through its Twitter account, the government body informed that it had begun all legal inquiries and procedures for the clarification of facts.
The state secretary of government, Carlos Herrera Tello , expressed his condemnation of the assassination of Otlica Avilés, assuring that the heinous act would not go unpunished and that those responsible would be brought to justice.
