Los Tucanes de Tijuana perform at Coachella 2019

The Mexican band Los Tucanes de Tijuana was the second norteño band to perform at Coachella , the most popular music festival in the world, held in India, California.

performed at Coachella 's main stage, followed by artists such as Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Childish Gambino, Rosalía, and J Balvin.

The majority of the attendees were Latinos , who attended the concert wearing sombreros and carried Mexican flags .

The Mexican band gained notoriety after the “ Chona challenge ” went viral , a challenge where people would record themselves dancing to their hit song and share it on social media.

But this is not the first time an unlikely Mexican band has taken the stage at Coachella , which usually hosts English-speaking rock, rap, and alternative musicians and bands . Last year, Los Ángeles Azules , a cumbia band, performed at the festival .
