Elba Esther might go back to jail

The former teachers' union leader, Elba Esther Gordillo Morales , asked for a protection action, Amparo , as she claims there is a pending investigation against her , initiated by the PGR , for money laundering .

According to lists from the Second District Criminal Court, in Mexico City, Gordillo asked the federal protection in order to access the investigation file and exercise her right to d efend herself.

She claimed that the Specialized Unit for the Investigation of Operations Involving Resources Derived from Illicit Sources or the Counterfeiting or Alteration of Currency as the responsible organism for this money laundering investigation.

The lawsuit was filed on May 31 and was admitted on June 19 , as the judge asked for additional information about her claims.

The file already contains some of the reports requested by the PGR and the judge rejected her petition for a definitive suspension , and she was summoned for a constitutional audience on September 10 , where the judge will decide whether or not give Gordillo the federal protection.

If Gordillo gets

the protection, Amparo , the judge could demand the PGR to give access to Gordillo to the investigation against her and ask them to present rebuttal evidence.

On August 7 , Elba Esther Gordillo , announced her triumph over the PGR , as a tribunal set her free.

She released a statement to announce she will return to the public life on August 20.
