The Mexican music group Sonido Gallo Negro has shocked audiences with a special song inspired by Borras , the dog that appears in Alfonso Cuarón’s latest film ‘Roma.’ The catchy cumbia will be featured in this year’s Vive Latino music festival in Guadalajara.
“This will be the third time that we play at the Vive Latino . We will perform on Saturday 16 and we hope that all our fans get a chance to see us live because we have a few surprises in store for the festival,” stated Gabriel López, the band’s guitar player .
He commented that the song had been included in an album called ‘Music Inspired by the Film Roma,’ which was launched on February 8 and features contributions from famous artists such as Beck, Billie Eilish, Patti Smith, and more.
López told in an interview that the band had been invited to watch the film and were later asked whether the movie had inspired them or if they felt like writing a song for the canine character, and thus the “Cumbia del Borras” was born.

“We had a lot of fun making the song, because we all agreed that ‘El Borras’ was the funniest character in the movie,” told the percussionist Enrique Casasola .
Gabriel López told that the album would be launched in most digital platforms. ‘Music Inspired by the Film Roma’ features songs such as “ Tarantula ,” by the American musician Beck , and Billie Eilish’s “When I was Older.”
