The National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA) has released its 360° tour of Mexico's Fine Arts Palace or Bellas Artes, a paramount center of performing arts opened to the public in 1934 and built as per the command of the turn of the century president, Porfirio Díaz, in the occasion of the centennial of the Mexican Independence.
Italian architect Adamo Boari led construction efforts of the building inspired in the Art Noveau and Art Decó trends of the time. The palace is also famous for housing iconic murals of Mexican painters David Alfaro Siqueiros, Diego Rivera, and José Clemente Orozco.
The Fine Arts Palace was declared a major artistic monument by UNESCO in 1987 and has housed performances by the likes of Maria Callas, Plácido Domingo, Rudolf Nuréyev and Zubin Mehta, as well as of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra from London, among other major national orchestras.
Popular culture performers such as late Mexican singer-songwriter, Juan Gabriel, and the First Lady of Mariachi music, Lola Beltrán, have also delivered memorable presentations inside the majestic white marble giant.
The interactive map invites visitors to click the section of their choosing and to experience a 360° look into the regal architecture of Bellas Artes.
