A Latino gang member wanted for more than 15 years in connection with a racially motivated killing of a black man in Los Angeles has been captured in Mexico and turned over to the FBI.
Merced Cambero is scheduled to appear in court in Los Angeles on Monday.
Federal prosecutors allege he was one of three shooters who gunned down Kenneth Wilson, an African American man, in April 1999.
The Los Angeles Times reports the 37-year-old was arrested by Mexican authorities in Baja California and turned over at the border on Friday. It wasn't immediately known if he has an attorney.
Prosecutors charged Cambero while he was on the run with several charges including conspiracy.
Cambero was a member of the Avenues gang that waged a campaign of terror against African Americans.
