With a public mass, a photo exhibition and the traditional “mañanitas”, or birthday song, the people of Parácuaro remembered their favorite son, Alberto Aguilera Valadez, world-wide know as Juan Gabriel, who would become 67 years old today.
The famed singer-songwriter passed away August last year and has since aroused homages and tributes in both Mexico and overseas.
The head of Tourism of the municipality of Parácuaro, in southern Michoacán, Juan Carrillo Reyna, presided the event Alberto comes back home, and noted that they look forward to the decree of January 7th as the “Day of Alberto Aguilera Valadez”.
Friends, fans and residents of Parácuaro attended the event and affirmed their admiration for the late music star: “Juan Gabriel was both a remarkable artist and human being”, said Odilia Ruiz president of the Capricorn 50 Fan Club.
