“Tim Burton: The exhibition” will be hosted in Mexico City’s Franz Mayer Museum next November 2017, amid the Day of the Dead celebrations.
Over 700 drawings, puppets, film props, photographs, personal documents and other cinematic ephemera of the American producer, writer and film-maker will be featured in the show, which will open on November 1st, 2017 and will run through January 1st, 2018.
Spokesmen of the Franz Mayer Museum have noted how “Burton has created countless of fantastic worlds with characters that take us inside strange Gothic imaginaries; his capacity to transform something profoundly dark into something enjoyable for children and entire families is quite remarkable”.

The mastermind behind iconic films like Beetlejuice (1988) and Edward Scissorhands (1990) graduated from the California Institute of Arts (CalArts) and worked for Walt Disney Studios early in his career, which spans for 27 years.

“Tim Burton: The exhibition” has already visited Germany, Hong Kong and Japan and was curated with the help of Burton himself: “the exhibition shows the dirty laundry in my wardrobe”, notes the famed film-maker who reinvented Hollywood cinema “with his unique vision inspired in pop culture and Gothic imagery” as stated in an earlier exhibition “Tim Burton” of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in 2009.
