Alleged commanding chief of the Sinaloa Cartel in La Paz, Baja California, Rey David Santiago Vargas, was arrested by members of the Ministry of Navy (SEMAR) last Friday in San José de Guanajuato, Sinaloa.
A suspicious driving behavior was spotted by members of the Ministry of Navy who were performing surveillance efforts in the Mazatlán-Culiacán roadway. The detainee tried to escape as he passed by the marines convoy and was shortly arrested after a persecution in the San José de Guanajuato common land.
During the arrest, authorities seized a 9mm handgun, a firearm of exclusive military use, and found several fake identifications.
The detainee is now at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office and has been identified as an alleged commanding chief of the Sinaloa Cartel in La Paz, Baja California. It is believed that he may also be responsible for the purchase and distribution of methamphetamine.
