The government of Mexico City suspended the local head of Zoos and Wildlife Juan Arturo Rivera Rebolledo, in response to the death of Bantú, the only male gorilla in the country.
The authorities explained that the suspension means to create the proper conditions for the investigation into the death of the primate and it will end as soon as the experts see that "there was not a bad implementation of the established protocols for the transportation of the animal".
Laboratory and medical experts from the National Autonomous University of Mexico will participate in the investigation, and the preliminary results are expected within a month.
