Rubén Aguirre, known as "Profesor Jirafales," died at 82 due to pneumonia complications, in his residence in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.
"My favorite professor is resting in peace," wrote actor Édgar Vivar on Twitter.
Aguirre's funerals will be held in Puerto Vallarta.
Just a few days ago, EL UNIVERSAL reported that Aguirre was "stable and in his residence," even though he wasn't in good health.
Rubén Aguirre was an icon of Mexican television due to his role as "Profesor Jirafales" in the "El Chavo del 8" show.
Aguirre was born on June 15 1934. He participated in more than 14 movies and 10 TV shows, most of the time with Roberto Gómez Bolaños "Chespirito". He retired in 2013.
