Most of the disagreements came from the fact that ruling Revolutionary Institutional Party and its ally, the Green Party, are supportive of the medical and science use of the drug, while left-wing Democratic Revolution Party and some members of the right-wing National Action Party support turning the possession of small amounts of the drug from a crime to a minor offense.
