Former Mexican President Felipe Calderón was involved in a car crash in the state of Quintana Roo, while being taken to a campaign act in support of Carlos Joaquín, candidate for the regional governorship.
According to people close to the former president, he wasn't driving his truck.
After the incident, Calderón, a member of the right-wing National Action Party, continued to the campaign act while personnel from the Presidential Guard remained in the area guarding the vehicle.
Carlos Joaquín, candidate of the PAN and left-wing Democratic Revolution Party, will close his campaign tonight in the seaside city of Puerto Morelos.
