Wind knocks down 160 trees in Mexico City

Fausto Lugo, Civil Protection Coordinator, said on Twitter that winds of up to 27 mph were registered in Xochimilco with gusts of up to 37 mph.

Wind has knocked down 160 trees since 17:00 hrs. yesterday, Fausto Lugo, Civil Protection Coordinator, said on Twitter.

He added that winds of up to 45 km/h (27 mph) were registered in Xochimilco with gusts of up to 60 km/h (37 mph).

Lugo said that the Fire Department and the Urban Services Department are working to remove the trees repair the damages caused by the trees.

In Metepec a billboard fell down, injuring five people.
