
During the early hours of Thursday, the City Hall of Veracruz caught fire, leaving just material damage.
According to police reports, the fire began at 4:00 am in the Department of Tourism area.
Firefighters took about 40 minutes to control and extinguish the fire that damaged part of the facade of the building, which construction began in 1609 and ended in 1627.
According to witnesses, the fire could have been caused by a group of youngsters seen in the place before the incident.
State authorities conduct the corresponding investigations.
