Joaquín Guzmán Loera is suffering a series of respiratory ailments that have worsened during the last few days, due to the lack of specialized care according to his sentimental partner, Emma Coronel.
Coronel expressed her complaints about the health of the father of her children after a visit to the federal prison of El Altiplano, in the State of Mexico.
The reported ailments were confirmed by Armida Guzmán Loera, sister of "El Chapo," who went to meet him during the day.
Both women pointed out that he could be afflicted by bronchitis or pneumonia as he is weak, presents a fever and a severe cough, and called for a specialist to evaluate him because so far his "treatment" has been reduced to blood pressure pills and nothing more.
"He says he is just receiving pills. God knows what are they giving him for his illness. They are giving him medicine in his meals. I don't know, in order to dumb him down. They are doing something to him," expressed Armida Guzmán.
Coronel and Guzmán also complained against about the excessive security apparatus over "El Chapo," keeping him from getting a full-night sleep by waking him up every four hours to verify if he is still alive.
