Alleged member of the Gulf Cartel arrested in Nuevo León

Officers from the Mexican Navy and the Office of the Attorney General reported the arrest in the northern state of Nuevo León of Juan Francisco Carrizales Lara, "El Metro 98," identified as a member of the Gulf Cartel (CDG).

The Navy said that Carrizales Lara is facing charges for possession of military-grade weapons and narcotics for sale, such as cannabis.

Carrizales was arrested when he was on board a van in the city of Monterrey thanks to an intelligence operation.

The officers seized a weapon, five packages of cannabis with a total weight of 16,669 pounds, as well as the vehicle.
