
The Office of the Attorney General announced the arrest of five members of the so-called Independent Cartel of Acapulco, among them their presumed chief of operations, Armando Romero Pastrana, suspect of at least seven killings.
On February 24, officers from the National Gendarmerie arrested them in Acapulco. One of the detainees is a female.
Eduardo Prudente Salas, Fernando Rufino Téllez, Ricardo Aguilar Ortiz, and Elvia García Cruz are the other suspects arrested along Romero Pastrana.
Romero Pastrana is facing charges for possession of military-grade weapons and drugs trafficking for cocaine and cannabis.
The other men face similar charges along the woman and they were identified as hit-men for the gang.
