Carlos Bello Roch, Denver's Mexican consul, created the Vail Forum at the request of the previous administration, when José Antonio Meade was Minister of Foreign Affairs (SRE), said Carlos Pérez Verdía, undersecretary for North America.
He added that both Bello and the Forum are supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In an interview with EL UNIVERSAL Pérez explained that the Vail Forum was created in 2014 at a bilateral meeting between Colorado and Mexico with the purpose of opening a space for dialogue between Mexican and American businessmen.
As reported by this newspaper, Bello promoted this non-profit organization registered in his name to which members were expected to contribute between 1,000 and 6,000 dollars.
Pérez added that Bello will continue to be consul until the Ministry of Public Administration (SFP) completes the investigation.
He also explained that there are other organizations similar to Vail Forum without the participation of the government, such as the US-Mexico CEO Dialogue.
