The governor of Nuevo León, Jaime Rodríguez Calderón, expressed that the prison of Topo Chico is finally under control, after the death of up to 49 people in a massive riot.
During a press conference, the governor said that the state authorities have regained the control of the prison through the Department of Public Security and the Office of the State Attorney General of the State is investigating the incident.
The governor added that during a search the authorities seized cocaine, cannabis, psychotropic tablets, 120 improvised stabbing weapons, 400 lighters, hammers, tweezers, and knives, among other irregular objects.
He mentioned that the out of the 49 prisoners killed in the riots, 40 were stabbed and beaten with hammer and shovels.
Also, one of the bodies presents a bullet wound and the custodian who shot him is explaining the incident to the authorities.
The governor also reported that 34 autopsies have been undertaken and 18 bodies have been delivered to their families.
Also, the governor reported that last night 233 inmates were transferred to federal prisons, among them the criminals responsible for the riot, Jorge Iván Hernández, known as "Credo," and Juan Pedro Saldívar, "Z-27," who lead rival gangs inside the jail.
