The International Swimming Federation (FINA) announced Saturday the temporary suspension of the Mexican Swimming Federation from all competitions due to breach of contract regarding the cancellation of the World of Guadalajara 2017.
In a decision taken at the meeting of the Directing Council of the FINA in Budapest, it was decided to suspend the Mexicans from participating in international tournaments, just when the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro are around the corner.
Guadalajara cancelled the World Cup last February when the Mexican government decided to cut spending. The city was elected for the Cup on 2011, when it hosted the Pan American Games.
The Mexican Swimming Federation had already eight places for the Rio games.
