The former governor of Coahuila, Humberto Moreira, could return to Mexico as soon as next Monday, according to reports.
The anticorruption authorities in Spain have until that day at 3:00 p.m. to appeal to his release by order of judge Santiago Pedras, from the National Court.
The judge also ordered the return of his passport and so the former leader of the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party will be able to leave Spain and return to México.
However, Moreira's lawyer, Manuel Ollé, explained that the investigation against his client continues and he could be called to declare by the competent authorities.
The forty-nine-year-old former politician was arrested on January 15, under charges of money laundering and was kept in the Soto del Real prison in Madrid.
