Bus accident in Veracruz leaves at least 18 dead

A passenger bus carrying an amateur soccer team fell into a 30-meter ravine in the central highlands of Veracruz, leaving a preliminary balance of 18 dead and 15 wounded.

The accident happened around 09:00 hrs. on the Atoyac-Paso del Macho highway, in Atoyac.

The bus coming from the municipality of Camarón de Tejeda headed towards Córdoba, where the team was scheduled to play.

The survivors reported that the bus fell over the cliff after the driver took a wrong turn. The injured were taken to various hospitals in Córdoba.
