The authorities in the United States confirmed the extradition of alleged Mexican drug dealer Tirso Martínez Sánchez, who was arrested in his country almost two years ago.
According to the prosecution of the Eastern District of New York, 51-year-old Martínez Sánchez was extradited yesterday and within the next few hours will appear before a court in Brooklyn.
According to the statement, the Mexican citizen is accused of leading a group of drug traffickers that "imported to the United States from Mexico tens of thousands of kilograms of cocaine".
Martinez Sanchez was arrested by the Federal Police of Mexico in February 2014 for his alleged links with the cartels of Amado Carrillo Fuentes and the Beltrán Leyva brothers, as well as Colombian organizations.
Once in the United States, the drug shipments were distributed from centers located in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago, among other cities.
