McDonald's Mexico assured all customers that it is impossible to find the head of a rat in one of their burgers, so the reported case in Tlalnepantla, State of Mexico, was a mere attempt at extortion.
"We are reviewing the case in order to find out what happened. It is something that was seeded, it is impossible to have that happen in one of our restaurants. We are conducting an investigation to determine how the customer decided to extort money from a company like ours," expressed Félix Ramírez, a spokesperson for the company.
In an interview with EL UNIVERSAL, he explained that the supposedly aggravated customer demanded money from the manager of the restaurant in order to keep silent about the incident. The company does not allow its managers to make any payments of the sort.
"We are a global company that has high-quality processes ... We want to see what this person, who by the way was drunk at the time, was really looking for," he said.
The spokesperson confirmed that the restaurant where the incident allegedly happened has been closed and the company is still in discussions with the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Mexico (PGJEM) to determine the actions to follow.
