Cirque du Soleil announced that its 38th production “Luzia” will be inspired by the richness of the Mexican culture.
The name Luzia fuses the sound of “luz”, which means light in Spanish, and “lluvia”, which means rain, two elements at the core of the show's creation, the company said in a press release.
Mexican production designer Eugenio Caballero, who won an Oscar for Best Achievement in Art Direction for the film Pan's Labyrinth, will participate in the production.
Co-written by Daniele Finzi Pasca and Julie Hamelin Finzi, the show will be presented under the Big Top in Montreal's Old Port starting in April 21 and in Port Lands in Toronton on July 28.
