Roberto Campa, Human Rights Undersecretary of Mexico's Ministry of Interior, said that a consultation on marijuana decriminalization will begin shortly.
He explained that the survey will help the country make the best decision.
Interviewed in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Campa said that the first phase of the consultation should be completed by March so that Mexico can take a position to the 2016 Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly on the World Drug Problem, to be held from April 19 to 21, 2016.

Campa added that marijuana decriminalization should be analyzed both, from a domestic and international perspective.
He explained that last Monday President Peña announced that his agency is responsible for organizing the consultation after Mexico's Supreme Court of Justice authorized four people to grow, transport, possess and use marijuana for recreational purposes.
