The Mexican Minister of Communications and Transportation, Gerardo Ruiz Esparza, announced the successful launch of the Morelos 3 satellite, pointing out that it represents a consolidation of the MexSat satellite system.
"We are approaching a consolidation of the last generation MexSat Mexican satellite system, with the most advanced technology. We complement the Bicentennial satellite launched in December 2012 with the Morelos 3 launched this morning," expressed Ruiz Esparza in a message transmitted through the United Launch Alliance (ULA).
"Once it reaches its geostationary orbit at 36,000 kilometers (22,369 miles) it will be put at the service of Mexican telecommunications," added the Minister.
Around 8:19 a.m., Mexico City time, the Morelos 3 separated from the Atlas V rocket that took it to space, with the momentum necessary to reach geoestacional orbit within 13 days.
