Mexican Navy will continue operations in Durango and Sinaloa

The Ministry of the Navy reported that it will continue with the security operations in the mountain areas of Durango and Sinaloa, and denied the accusations of human rights violations in those actions.

Also, the Navy added that the images of one of its aircraft supposedly downed by enemy fire actually corresponds to a ship that crashed in Puebla in 2010.

In a statement, the Navy denied that families in the state of Durango have complained of human rights violations by marines during military operations in that area.

"So far, this Ministry has not received any human rights violations complaints from the population, as mentioned above. But in the event of the reception of any they will be attended to as soon as possible," expressed the statement.

In addition, the statement explained that the photograph published yesterday in a web portal, allegedly of an MI17 downed in the Tamazula mountains of Durango, corresponds to "a file image of an aircraft that crashed on September 10, 2009, in the community of Las Chimeneas, Puebla, during a flight from Veracruz to Mexico City".
