A trailer transporting two tanks with butane gas rollovered and caught fire, causing the death of the driver, according to the General Coordination of Civil Protection of the state of Tamaulipas.
The incident happened at 3:00 over the Victoria-Matamoros highway, in the Padilla-Jiménez road. According to the Federal Police, the driver probably fell sleep and went out of the road, causing the truck and tanks to rollover.
The tanks broke during impact and the gas leaked and caught fire, burning everything on a radius of more than 980 feet.
The driver was burnt to death in the fire of the truck and tanks property of the Master Gas company, from San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León. Every tank has a capacity of some 8,000 gallons of gas, but it is not known if they were filled at full capacity.
The Federal Police, Ministry of Defense and Civil Protección of Tamaulipas are watching the area.
