Lightning kills seven members of a family in Guanajuato

Seven people died after being hit by a lightning bolt in the community of Mesa Cuata, located in the Sierra Gorda, Guanajuato, the Department of Public Safety reported.

The fatalities, three adult women and four children, were caught in a thunderstorm while working in the field.

According to the first reports the victims are members of a family.

The incident occurred around 15:30 hours on Friday, the State Coordination of Civil Protection confirmed.

Members of Civil Protection, Emergency System of the State of Guanajuato, the State Public Security and the Public Ministry are on site conducting the investigations.
