A 60 million pesos (US$3.8 million) reward has been offered for information leading to the capture of Joaquín "El Chapo Guzmán" was announced by Attorney General Arely Gómez during a press conference with the Minister of the Interior, Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong.
"Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán probably had the complicity of the personnel or officers from the Altiplano, and if this information is confirmed, it would mean an act of corruption, disloyalty and betrayal to all Mexicans," expressed Osorio Chong.
It was also reported that the head of the prison, Valentín Cárdenas Lerma, was terminated, as well as the national coordinator of the federal jail system and the head of the Prevention and Social Readaptation Agency.
Osorio Chong said that Guzmán Loera was wearing a bracelet to follow his movements, which he removed before his escape, and his cell had a video-surveillance system, monitored 24 hours a day.
The minister said that he will order National Security Commissioner Monte Alejandro Rubido to present to the media the videos from cell 20, where 'El Chapo' was kept.
