Andrés Manuel López Obrador, chairman of Morena's National Council, ruled out alliances with other parties such as the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) and the Citizens Movement, after his National Regeneration Movement won in five districts and the largest number of Mexico City assembly members after the elections last Sunday.
"These are new times, alliances must be forged with citizens, not with parties that are no longer an option and have lost moral authority because they have become part of the regime," the former presidential candidate said.
In an interview with Radio Fórmula, López Obrador said he has a good relationship with Mexico City mayor Miguel Ángel Mancera.
About independent candidates, the politician said that the victory of Jaime Rodríguez "El Bronco" in Nuevo León "is a rejection of bipartisanship, of the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and the National Action Party (PAN), which are the same thing."
"People are fed up, they saw this alternative and took it," he added.
