The Watford, newly promoted to the Premier League, announced today the signing of Quique Sánchez Flores as new coach.
The "Hornets," second place in the Championship just behind Bournemouth, did not come to an agreement for the renewal of Serbian Slavisa Vajner Jokanovic, the architect of their rise to the Premier.
As reported in a statement, 50-year-old Sánchez Flores signed a two-year contract and will be aided in the job by Alberto Díaz and Antonio Carlavilla, in addition to Dean Austin in the technical corps.
The Spanish coach was free since he resigned from Getafe in February, just a month after he had been incorporated into the team.
As a player, former Spanish international Sánchez Flores played with Valencia, Real Madrid and Zaragoza, and coached Getafe, Valencia, Benfica, Al-Ahli and Atlético de Madrid, taking it to the victory in the Europa League in 2010, and then won the European Super Cup against Inter Milan.
